The first radio jingle

On 24th December 1926, this song for Wheaties played over radios in some parts of the US. The sales of Wheaties spiked in those areas and eventually as the song spread across the entire nation, Wheaties grew to become one of the most popular Breakfast cereals in the States.

It was sung by four men, who have forever been called the Wheaties Quartet and i’m not entirely sure what role James S. Bell played – whether he created the song or suggested it, but he was responsible for what is potentially the world’s first radio jingle.

Here it is. And yes, it’s better than some of the stuff we hear today.
